Today in science we have been investigating which rocks are permeable and which are impermeable. What did you find from your investigation?
Star of the week: well done to Sadie who has been awarded star of the week for this week. Sadie has tried to join her handwriting all of the time and produced some brilliant diary-entry writing. Handwriting award: well done to Isabelle who got the handwriting award for this week! School awards: no awards for class 3w this week :( Let's try harder next week! This week in science we have found out about the different layers of rock on Earth. We played a memory game in groups and had to take it in turns to look at a diagram and draw how much we could remember. Can you remember what the three types of rock are called ? We had a lovely day at Beamish last week. We went down the mine, saw the school, miners houses and the chapel and even had a go at a role-play eviction! Star of the week: well done to Della for being awarded star of the week last week. Della is really trying hard to make her hand writing cursive and always listens well and contributes to ideas in class. Well done! School awards: well done class 3W for getting two awards last week! Keep it up! In preparation for your Big Writing task this week, have a read of this article about the miner's evictions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-16856532 Your Big Writing task will be to write a diary entry from the viewpoint of a 'candy man'. This week's class assembly will be about being a good friend. Think about how you can be a good friend, have you given any friendship tokens to anybody? What did you do to be a good friend? We have learnt lots already about the life of Tommy Armstrong and what it was like to be a miner. We had a special visit from somebody who works with Beamish Museum who came in and talked to us all about the life of a miner, the life of a miner's wife and what kind of leisure activities miner's would be involved in. We were then lucky enough to handle some of the artefacts and realised you would have to be very strong to be a miner! We had a great day on Tuesday reading books and drawing with Nick Sharratt to celebrate world book day! |
