Year 3 dressed as all kinds of animals today and helped to raise money for Dogs Trust. We were also introduced to some reptiles and spiders this afternoon!
Star of the week: well done to HeiLun who was awarded star of the week for his effort in Big Writing. He is looking at his long term targets and trying his best to always write more than 100 words. School awards: well done to Daisy for having the healthiest packed lunch this week. A big well done to Year 3 for also getting a best at lunchtime award! Today we have been looking at what the weather is like on the Carribean island of Jamaica and how it is different to the weather here in the U.K. We then took turns being weather presenters and reporting the different weather conditions to the rest of the class. In preparation for our visit from him, our author of the month for this month is Nick Sharrat. In class we have found out a little about his life and how he came to be an author and illustrator. Our challenge for this month is to read a book illustrated by Nick Sharratt. If you have a comment in your planner saying you have read one of his illustrated books you will be given a success card! This week we had our very own Caribbean carnival! We wore our masks and performed our own carnival dance in front of the class. Star of the week: well done to Jack who was awarded star of the week last week. Jack looked at his marking ladder and talk homework to help him produce a lovely poem in big writing all about a Caribbean carnival. School awards: unfortunately Year 3 didn't manage to get any awards this week. Let's turn it around for next week! We have been investigating which materials conduct electricity and which materials are good insulators. After carrying out our investigation, we concluded that the metal spoon, metal fork and tin foil were all good conductors. We found that the pencil, ruler and leaf were all good insulators of electricity. This week in maths we have been looking at units of measurement. We have measured weight - measuring items in the class using g and kg. We then measured our feet using cm and mm. In ICT we have been doing some information research about the Caribbean. Using this information we created our own Caribbean fact files. |
